How Arbour Family Medical Centre is managing COVID-19
For More Information About COVID-19 and the COVID-19 Vaccines
Please read this message from our medical centre about how our office is responding to ensure patient safety in response to COVID-19 (coronavirus).
Dear Patient of Arbour Family Medical Centre,
Due to the current and impending COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to make temporary changes in the way we deliver your care. Our goal is to minimize potential exposure to as many people as possible while freeing up resources to attend to those who require urgent care.
Our telephones are extremely busy, we are doing our very best to answer your call. During busier times, our lines may not be able to take your call. You may receive a message that we are currently unavailable, or a busy signal. Rest assured, we are still here taking calls, but our phone system is at capacity.
Our doctors are also working at the COVID Assessment Centre, and/or the Vaccination Clinics, in addition to their regular schedules in office.
Patients have the option to book an in-person appointment, a virtual video visit, or a telephone appointment.
Additionally, we are continuously reviewing our schedules - those that can be accomplished safely by telephone or a virtual video visit will be booked as such. Those visits that are of a more urgent nature and require an in-person visit, will still be offered this option.
In order to help reduce the spread of the virus - we ask for your help.
We ask that you do not enter the office until 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Our waiting room is configured for physical distancing, and can only accommodate a limited number of patients. We will provide you with a new medical mask, and we ask that you put it on before you enter the exam area for your appointment.
If you have respiratory symptoms (cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat, difficulty breathing), have travelled outside of the country, or have had contact with someone with respiratory symptoms and travel, we ask that you STAY HOME, and call our office or Public health at 1-800-265-7293 x 7006 for further direction. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND OUR OFFICE WITHOUT INSTRUCTION IN THIS CASE.
As a community, our responsibility at this time is to minimize the virus spread and the impending impact on our healthcare system. If you are able to delay your elective medical appointments, we urge you to do so. We also ask that you do not attend the EMERGENCY ROOM unless it is a clear EMERGENCY. There are other modes of testing if you are concerned you have contracted the virus.
In regards to your greater social obligations - we urge you to wash your hands and continue to wear your mask in public. Please reconsider attending large public venues, events and travelling. The more successful we are at continued social distancing, the best chance we have at minimizing the impact of this virus.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this. These changes will be regularly assessed and are in place until further notice.
